I love this quote and have repeated it numerous times, especially after my first visit to the City of Lights in 2015. That was the vacation of my dreams. A once in a lifetime trip to Paris, Bruges, and Amsterdam with my husband Rick. As we boarded the plane to go back home to the US, I had an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach. Europe had gotten a hold of me in ways that I didn’t expect and instead of feeling excited to go home, I felt sad to be leaving home. They say that “home is where the heart is” and my heart was definitely in Europe. So much so that in 2018, we retired early, sold off most of our belongings, and moved to Portugal.

In these blogs, I’ll share my impressions of the places that I’ve been and offer some practical tips and ideas to make your travels more enjoyable. Travel is always a good idea! Get packing.
